Texas Instruments’ (TI) OMAP™4 mobile applications platform will redefine the mobile phone of tomorrow with new, innovative user experiences driven by PC-like web browsing, 1080p full HD video record and playback, intuitive user interfaces, location-based services and next-generation social networking applications. The OMAP 4 platform includes applications processors, a comprehensive software suite, power management technology and supporting components to bring nextgeneration Smartphones and Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) to market quickly. At the heart of the OMAP 4 platform is a powerful system-on-chip that includes the perfect balance of power efficiency and high performance.

The OMAP 4 processor balances processing across four main engines: a programmable multimedia engine based on TI’s C64x DSP andpower-efficient, multi-format hardware accelerators; general-purpose processing based on the dual-core ARM?Cortex™-A9 MPCore™ supporting symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) and capable of speeds of more than 1 GHz per core; a high-performance programmable graphics engine; and an Image Signal Processor (ISP) for unparalleled video and imaging performance.

The OMAP 4 family includes two applications processors, both based on the dual-core Cortex-A9 MPCore general purpose processors: the OMAP4430 operates at up to 1 GHz, while the OMAP4460 operates at up to 1+ GHz. Both processors offer the full variety of subsystems and applications discussed below to deliver hardware and software system solutions that scale across customer roadmaps optimizing time to market, flexibility and R&D efficiency.

 Palm OS™

The device is composed of the following subsystems:

 Cortex™-A9 microprocessor unit (MPU) subsystem, including two ARM® Cortex-A9 cores capable of operation at 1.2GHz

 Digital signal processor (DSP) subsystem

 Image and video accelerator high-definition (IVA-HD) subsystem

 Cortex™-M3 MPU subsystem, including two ARM Cortex-M3 microprocessors

 Display subsystem

 Audio back-end (ABE) subsystem

 Imaging subsystem (ISS), consisting of image signal processor (ISP) and still image coprocessor (SIMCOP) block

 2D/3D graphic accelerator (SGX) subsystem

 Emulation (EMU) subsystem

The device includes state-of-art power-management techniques required for high-performance mobile products. Comprehensive power management is integrated into the device. The device also integrates:

 On-chip memory

 External memory interfaces

 Memory management

 Level 3 (L3) and level 4 (L4) interconnects

 System and connecting peripherals

OMAP4460 Pandaboard ES开发系统

PandaBoard ES has an updated OMAP4 PandaBoard with the OMAP4460 processor from Texas Instruments. The development board features two ARM Cortex-A9 (M3) cores that can clock up to 1.2GHz, compared to the dual-core 1GHz cores on the original PandaBoard with the TI OMAP4430. In addition to all the existing features of the OMAP4430 processor-based PandaBoard, the PandaBoard ES also has a DSI expansion header, Bluetooth® low energy-capable WiLink™ 6.0 combo connectivity module and a switch to control bootorder. Like the original PandaBoard, the PandaBoard ES is ideal for the development and enhancement of feature-rich mobile platforms and products and can support Linux-based operating systems. The new PandaBoard ES is software-compatible with the original PandaBoard. Additional information about the board and its technology capabilities can be found at pandaboard.org

Pandaboard ES is an OMAP4460 platform designed to provide access to as many of the powerful features of the OMAP4460 Multimedia Processor as possible, while maintaining a low cost. This will allow the user to develop software to utilize the features of the powerful OMAP4460 processor. In addition, by providing expandability via onboard connectors, the Pandaboard ES supports development of additional capabilities/functionality. See Table 1 for a listing of the Pandaboard ES features.

很有帮助,但原理图真得看不清楚,还不如网上下的4430的那个板的清楚,有BOM表还是很有帮助的。还有4460的手册(也可以TI官网下到),总得来说还是非常感谢。
