GNU Emacs contains code for supporting several other operatingsystems and machine types; however, in many cases we don't knowwhether they still work. The definitive reference for this isthe MACHINES file, which is also distributedwith GNU Emacs; this file also lists the special requirements forcompiling GNU Emacs on these systems.

DocumentationTwo Emacs manuals, the GNU Emacs manual andAn Introduction to Programming in Emacs Lisp, can bepurchased in printed form from the FSFstore (however, the versions corresponding to Emacs 23 may not beavailable yet). These manuals, along with the Emacs LispReference Manual and several other manuals documenting majormodes and other optional features, can also be read online. They arealso distributed with Emacs inInfo format; type C-h i inEmacs to view them.
The Emacs distribution includes the full source code for themanuals, as well as the Emacs Reference Card in several languages.
