No external senseresistor is needed, and no blocking diode is required due to the internalP- MOSFET architecture. Furthermore, the ZCC3221 is specifically designed towork with in USB power specifications. Its low external component count makesthe ZCC3221 ideally suited for portable applications. Thermal feedbackregulates the charge current to limit their temperature during high poweroperation or high ambient temperature. The charge current can be programmed externallywith a single resistor. The ZCC3221 automatically terminates the charge cyclewhen the charge current drops to 1/10ththe programmed value after the finalfloat voltage is reached. When the input supply (wall adapter or USB supply) isremoved, the ZCC3221 automatically enters a low power sleep mode, dropping thebattery drain current to less than 2mA.The ZCC3221 can be put into shutdown mode, reducing the supplycurrent to 50mA.Otherfeatures include battery pack temperature monitor, under voltage lockout,automatic recharge and two status pins to indicate charging and chargetermination.
